Thanks, GL.

There really wasn't much to see after the first round, was there? From the 2nd round until the flurry that ended it in the 5th, it was kind of boring. BJ Penn was never once in any trouble.

Honorable stoppage or unfair to Bonnar?

The cut looked pretty bad so it wasn't a terrible stoppage in my opinion. You could call Lyoto a TUF killer as he's 6 - 0 against guys who appeared on TUF in some capacity. Jungle Fight 1 was a decent event as besides Lyoto vs. Bonnar we got Werdum vs. Gonzaga I, Cyborg fighting, Jacare getting knocked silly in his MMA debut by Macaco, former NCAA Wrestling champ Rico Chiapparelli's lone MMA fight and Olympic Wrestling Gold Medalist Mark Schultz getting double-crossed in his "fight".

I agree It wasn’t a terrible stoppage. I can see why the fight was stopped, but maybe It could have gone a little bit more because of the(below the eye) location of the cut. It was probably best for Bonnar though, no permanent damage.

Has anyone been watching the pride fights on spike? I’m curious If the CL VS QJ 1 fight has been shown yet. I’ve seen It before but I would like to get It on DVD to add to my collection.

They haven't shown Chack vs. Rampage I yet and it doesn't look like it will be on this Friday, either. If they do show it, at least it probably won't be edited like it was on Fox Sports. I guess they weren't allowed to show striking on the ground on Fox Sports so they showed Chack going down and then cut right to the ref stopping the fight. They edited out all of Rampage's hard body shots on the ground that led to the finish. They did manage to leave in MR. BLAF "GAME PLAN" WHITE'S commentary. Great job, Fox Sports.Thumbsdown

I’m sure some of the members here have seen this, but for those who haven’t.

Nice KO for Murray in what was probably the biggest win of his career (unless you count the Tito street fight, ha ha). That's a pretty rare fight to have on video as the Extreme Force - Genesis card still hasn't been released officially on Tape or DVD. It was recorded and some people do have the Tape/DVD but they haven't released it commercially for whatever reasons.

This is still good for a laugh every once and awhile.

[GL] If these two would have fought, what do you think the outcome would have been?

Lindland probably would have won by decision.

Dana White lays down the law!

UFC boss confirms he's 'fired' Kimbo Slice and welterweight Paul Daley
May 9, 2010 | 8:34 am

Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White confirmed to The Times on Sunday that he had fired popular heavyweight Kimbo Slice, citing ineffectiveness, and welterweight Paul Daley, because of a post-fight sucker punch Daley delivered to Saturday-night winner Josh Koscheck.

Slice was overwhelmed by former NFL lineman Matt Mitrione, losing by second-round TKO in UFC 113 at Montreal's Bell Centre. Slice landed in the UFC as a competitor on the organization's reality television series, "The Ultimate Fighter," and defeated light-heavyweight Houston Alexander on a Las Vegas card in December.

White was far kinder to Slice than Daley in announcing the cuts at a post-fight news conference late Saturday night.

Daley was defeated by Koscheck in a fight that sent the winner to a title shot against gifted champion Georges St-Pierre later this year.

Koscheck reportedly whispered something offensive in Daley's ear toward the end of the fight, and Daley delivered the sucker punch after the bell.

White, who was embarrassed by the post-fight ruckus after a Strikeforce event last month, responded forcefully after the Daley display, announcing, "He's done."

The events nearly overshadowed the moment of the night, when Mauricio "Shogun" Rua knocked out Lyoto Machida in the first round to win the UFC light-heavyweight title. It was Machida's first loss in 17 fights and allowed Rua to avenge a bad decision that went against him versus Machida in October at Staples Center.

Dumb move by Daley last night, though he didn't even really connect with that cheap shot after the fight. I'm surprised Koscheck didn't go down and act like he was KO'd from that punch. I like Kimbo but he sucks as a fighter. I figured BLAF would keep him around for at least 1 more fight.

Shogun winning in spectacular fashion made UFC 113 a Thumbsup card. The next 3 UFCs all have interesting main events with Rashad vs. Rampage in what should be a great display of explosiveness and athleticism, Chack vs. Rich for the TUF Fanboy Championship Belt and Lesnar vs. the monstrous 8'9" Giant Carwin (he might be listed by UFC as being 9'3" or 9'4" by the time the fight takes place).

I just saw a clip of what you're referring to (the phantom knee). That, plus the alleged trash talk at the end of the fight, makes me have a lot more sympathy for Daley. I think Dana White was way too hard on him.

So the great, unbeatable, half human, half cyborg Fedor got tapped out by a fringe top 10 heavyweight. Can't believe it. Actually, I can! I tried telling Kickback and GL for years that Fedor was all hype and would get buried against top competition! This guy avoided the UFC like the plague and instead spent his time crushing cans and 185 pound fighters.

I give Fedor and his management credit for one thing - they kept the mystique and hype alive for what seemed like an eternity. Hell, some of his minions still believe Fedor is top dog. Thumbsdown

I'm sure we'll never see Fedor in the UFC. But can you imagine what guys like Brock Lesnar, Shane Carwin, Cain Velazquez, Junior Dos Santos, Frank Mir and Gabriel Gonzaga would do to him? We'd be picking up tiny pieces of Fedor in the first three rows. Thumbsup

Sorry, TK but Fedor is still the number 1 Heavyweight fighter in the world with Werdum number 2. Lesnar is currently ranked 37th, though if he beats Cain Velasquez in October, he'll probably leapfrog Jose Canseco and slide into the number 36 slot unless he runs and turtles again like he did against the 6'5" (even though he's clearly shorter than the 6'3" or 6'4" Lesnar and 6'3" Mir) Giant Carwin. I used to be 99% sure that your favorite fighter, Hong-Man Choi would have beaten Lesnar if they had fought back in 2007 but now I'm 100% sure that Hong-Man would have won after seeing Lesnar's cowardly and disgraceful Tito Ortiz impersonation. This was the supposed "baddest man on the planet?" ThumbsdownThumbsdown Brock wouldn't even last 1 minute with a courageous, non-running, non-turtling real man like Fedor or even DREAM Super Hulk/Hluk champion and number 1 ranked Super Heavyweight fighter, Minowaman.

I will say that UFC 116 was a really good card. It wasn't quite as good as Strikeforce, though. The fights at UFC 116 were better but MMA Celebrity Super Fan Forrest Whitaker was at the Strikeforce - Fedor vs. Werdum card so that automatically makes Strikeforce better.

MMA Celebrity Super Fan Forrest Whitaker > Mike Goldberg and Mike Tyson's favorite pro wrestler, "Cold Stone" Steve Austin

You know this is true, TK.
