I've been seeing a lot of EXC commercials on Showtime and they had their preview show last week. I guess it looks like a decent card, though I'm still not looking forward to that crap announce team of The Real Goldberg and Mario Lopez. Villasenor vs. The Crow might be the fight I'm most looking forward to. According to the EXC site, Frank Shamrock's nickname is "Shamrock". That's not exactly "The Dean of Mean" or "Ravishing Red" there. They do at least have Tim "Big Perm" Persey and Adriano "Nasal" Pereira fighting on the card. Also, the pretty hot Gina Carano is fighting on the card.

Cage Rage has some interesting fighters on their card. I hope James Thompson crushes Butterbean. I think poor Matsui is getting KO'd by "Mini Cro Cop". Then we have Mark Kerr fighting and Dan Severn and Imanari are also on the card. This one doesn't look too bad even with the freakshow main event.

I think the UFC 67: Pros vs. Joes preview show is Tuesday on SpikeTV. This might have the worst match-ups of any UFC PPV in recent memory but we do get Cro Cop, Rampage and Lyoto making their debuts and Anderson is fighting. Smith vs. Cote could be a good one.

is zelg still fighting on the cage rage card? i thought he pulled out from that to fight on prides next show. then again, pride is taking their sweet time with annoucing the card again so who knows if hes even on it. overall that cage rage card is a freakshow fest rivaling k-1 nye experiments.

im really hopinc elite xc doenst suck, but that announcing team is giving me nightmares. i like the fact that they dont sign exclusive contracts though.

Good month for MMA. UFC 67 must remind you guys of a Pride card with Rampage, Cro Cop and Anderson. GL, any word on the PPV buy rates for 66? Some are saying it was just under a million.

I didn't realize all those guys were fighting at Cage Rage. Thompson/Butterbean? Interesting. I could picture those two crashing right through the cage. Mark Kerr is back again? That guy has gotten way too much mileage out of that HBO documentary.

I'm looking forward to Gomi/Diaz at 33. I think Nick takes it and would be willing to bet my Sticky avatar on it. I also read that Shogun/Overeem II will be added. LOL at Wes Sims on this card.

I think Galesic's still fighting, though I see rumors that he might be fighting Cung Le at Pride 33 instead.

For some reason, on EXC's site, they have to list Goldberg and Mario Lopez as being the announcers under every single match-up. I don't know if I'd want to keep reminding people who the announcers are going to be over and over. I guess most of the undercard fights will be shown live in streaming video at EliteXC.com and then the 5 main fights will be on Showtime.

I haven't seen anything about UFC 66's PPV buyrate except that it did set their record and that was before all the information was gathered.

By the way, TK, this pic might interest you (I'm preparing for Kickback's wrath on this one):

TK's fantasy steam room line-up

You, Fedor and Kharitonov have something in common. Smile

War Diaz, that should be a great fight, heard Diaz interviewed a few weeks ago, the guy is plain crazy and just loves to fight, he's in tough though but I hope he wins.

Why does Butterbean keep getting put on cards, he's nothing but a journeyman boxer at best, he's like a beached whale when he hits the ground.

Thank you for that pic, GL! Thumbsup Thumbsup War Fedor and Kharitonov! If the 2nd baddest man on the planet (right behind Big Timmy), enjoys a good steam, then it's all good. Hell, I don't even bring flowers in the steam room.

I'm throwing the bet out there right now.

Nick versus Gomi for a one month avatar bet. If either wins by KO or sub, it's two months. Winner picks loser's avatar. I'll take Nick. That means I could get stuck with a Wand or Sakakakakakakakakakakakabara avatar. But if Nick wins, I think you guys know who your avatar will be. Is it really a loss for anyone to have the most handsome man in MMA for an avatar?

Wouldn't it be great if 3 or 4 of you guys took the bet and lost. We might as well change the name of the site to DanaWhite.com. Come on Pride guys. Have some faith in your champion.

they are NOT FLOWERS!!! they are tree branches tied together. i dont know what the trees that is commonly used name is in english. i can never remember tree names in english besides oak and pine for some reason. they are used to smack your skin in the sauna. it gives a nice tingly feeling and it supposedly has some health benefits or whatever.

now that we got that misconception cleared, heres little something about ufc 66 ppv numbers from meltzer:

"Preliminary numbers tracking slightly in excess of 1 million buys...largest non-boxing PPV in history."

No problem on the pic, TK. Just don't mention the fact that those 3 are naked as I seem to remember Kickback going ballistic on some UG posters when they made the mistake of mocking the nudity in that shot. I think most people in this part of the world at least wear towels around their waists, though I'm no sauna/steam room expert. Is this correct, TK?

I'll take you up on your Gomi - Diaz bet, TK. I'll have to look around for an appropriate avatar for you as Diaz is going down. It probably won't be MMA-related, either. I was going to go with Hong-Man Choi but you'd probably like that. Kickback needs to get in on this as well as we can both pick an avatar for you and you can change it at some point during the month or two months.

Kickback mentioned the UFC 66 PPV numbers which should break Wrestlemania 17's non-boxing PPV buys record. Early estimates are that UFC 66 grossed $44.8 million and Tito and Chack are expected to make at least $2.7 million each. Also, UFC 68 is set to break Strike Force's North American MMA attendance record in March. A source at UFC said that more than 18,265 tickets are out there for UFC 68 and that is the number that Strike Force did to set the record. The paid attendance record is 17,465 from that Strike Force show. UFC's records are 14,666 total for the GSP - Hughes II card and 13,055 paid for the Tito - Ken I card.

Those look like birch leaves, could be aspen as well. I took field botany in winter so we never ID'ed trees with leaves.

I believe you on the birch leaves, Kickback. If those guys can laugh and smack eachother on the ass with birch leaves, then I don't ever want to hear another comment about a steam room. I'm posting that pic in my infamous steam room thread in the misc. forum just for good measure.

Towels are still optional in steam rooms. Most people, including myself, prefer one.

I'm counting on the KO or sub, GL. As I don't believe there's any way Nick gets a decision over Gomi in Pride. This fight could resemble Tito/Ken I with Nick playing the role of Tito and Gomi will still get the decision.

I don't think Kickback wants any piece of the bet even with all the built in advantages for Takanori. I doubt he could stomach a MR. WHITE avatar for a month or two.

i think i'll pass on the gomi/diaz bet. its a bit too close matchups style wise considering the risk.

gl, i dont know what thread you are thinking of, but im just about the last guy in here or the ug who would have a problem with a picture of people practicing perfectly good sauna behaviour by itself.

I don't know, Kickback. I wonder what you would have said if Chris "Crippler" Leben and Kenny "KenFlo" Florian were seen standing naked in a sauna on TUF, smiling and holding birch leaves.

GL, you're on an island with that bet. I'm pretty sure Kickback had visions of Nick Diaz KO'ing "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler and then pictured 150 pound Takanori "Fireball Kid" Gomi taking those shots. Don't worry. I have the perfect MR. WHITE picture all picked out for you. Thumbsup

That picture still seems a tad bit gay to me but I may be wrong since sauna/steam room expert TK29 says that towels are optional. No wonder MR. BLAF WHITE is rumored to absolutely love steam rooms.

Looks like UFC 70 (which still might not be called that) is set for The M.E.N. Arena, though they haven't decided on the date as it will either be April 21 or April 28. It's also been rumored that that card will be on HBO unless the HBO-UFC deal falls through. If that happens, it could be on SpikeTV instead. Pride has their 3rd Las Vegas card scheduled for April 28 on PPV so I'd rather see UFC on April 21. I guess Baby Jay vs. Jens Pulver II is set to take place on June 23 which is the TUF 5 Finale. Also, UFC is supposedly making a documentary about the Tito vs. MR. BLAF WHITE sparring match which is set to take place on March 24. ThumbsdownThumbsdown

I bet TK29 and Atticus will be happy to know that Pride is trying to make Butterbean vs. Zuluzinho for Pride 33. Hopefully, James Thompson KO's Butterbean so there won't be any chance of this happening. They also tried to make top 150,000 heavyweight Wes Sims vs. either Fujita or Hunt but apparently, the NSAC wouldn't approve of those fights because Sims has suffered devastating KO losses to guys who don't hit as hard as either of those guys. LOL if this is true. Even with this temporary setback, I'm predicting that SWAT 2007 will be the best one yet. Fujita and Hunt both dodged a bullet here.

I've booked the Friday and Monday off work either side of the 21st and 28th but from what you're saying it sounds like you think it'll just be a UFC Fight Night rather than a full PPV show?

What did you read about it?

I think Gomi will beat Diaz too.

Also, I'm with GL, that photo does look a bit gay, whether that's good sauna behaviour or not, haha.

In the Wrestling Observer it said that UFC 70 could be in May and could be headlined by Tito vs. Forrest II or it might happen on the Manchester card. As of now, both guys are scheduled to be on the Manchester card but if they have their rematch, it makes more sense for them to put it on PPV and it's sounding like the Manchester card will be on HBO. I think they'll still go with Tito and Forrest in separate fights on the Manchester card since they need some big names for that one. I guess we'll know for sure in the next month or so.

Thanks.

I had to edit your post with the photo as it was messing up my screen. Hope you don't mind the photo's new title, haha.
